If this were Apocalyptica or Eden or even Kansas itself, if Mel and the babies were at the house with them, Sokka would have woken up in a dogpile of limbs and baby drool. But with Mel and her daughters off with Erin for some sisterly bonding, Sokka wakes up in a rock bunker made by yet another Toph that doesn't recognize him with five feet between himself and the other occupant of the room.

A glance at Steph and a smirk given for the tangled blonde hair hanging in her face, Sokka grins a little and gets to his feet. There's a pool outside that will do well enough for a mirror and he really needs a shave.

There's another Sokka outside who'd apparently had the same idea.

Except it was disturbed when the kraken reached out of the pool to try to mimic the shaving motions.

Now there's a Sokka flailing at the pool, and a kraken flailing at the Sokka, and altogether too much activity for this early in the morning.

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
The other Sokka takes this all in for a moment.

And the other two can be alerted to his presence as he starts laughing at the both of them.

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
"This isn't funny!" The long-haired Sokka flails a bit more. "I'm just trying to shave, and it wants my boomerang!"

NOBODY GETS HIS BOOMERANG.

Spots looks a little sad about this, subsiding into the pool and looking pathetically at the older Sokka.

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Sokka does not stop chuckling but does quiet a little, grinning at them. "Maybe it just wants to play," he suggests.

Though he does put his knife away, and the boomerang on his back stays right where it is.

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Sokka backs away from the pool warily and turns around to greet the older Sokka.

This results in another 0_o face, similar to the icon.

"--you cut your hair!"

It's sort of like 'hello, nice to see you' in a way.

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Nice to see you, too! Having a good time now that there's snow around again?"

Sokka snorts, amused at the younger's reaction. It doesn't stop him from coming closer, though, peering into the pool thoughtfully and considering whether or not it'd be a good idea to try shaving and risking his weapons to the squid-thing.

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, the snow's awesome, yes, it's good to see you alive, but -- you cut your hair?"

Sokka's voice squeaks. Lots.

"You cut your wolftail off!?"

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
The older glances at him with a short shrug, hardly concerned. "Less for freak squids to grab me by," he points out. "I know it's freak and I never would've done it, but once I got my necklace ripped off, I figured I might as well make sure it doesn't happen again."

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
"...oh."

Sokka's staring at him, eyes wide and a little bit horrified.

"Oh. Well, uh. It's ... good to see you again, anyway. Alive, I mean. And not squid-eaten or anything. You're okay, right?"

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Yup, totally not eaten. The little baby one's not going to chew on me if I get too close, is he?"

The horror is starting to grate his nerves.

"How're you and Jack doing?"

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
He cut his wolftail off!

His warrior's wolf-tail!

Although ... the younger Sokka thinks, touching his own shaggy sides and long ponytail ... it's not as if he looks the part of a Water Tribe warrior any more, dressed in Fire Nation gear and growing his sides out. So ... maybe it's okay.

Besides, hair grows.

Besides ... the older Sokka must have known what he was doing, because he's old and he's got scars and he's tough, and he's calm and stuff.

So it must be okay.

Sokka rubs his own wolftail thoughtfully. What would he look like without it?

"I don't think so. I got yelled at when I tried to suggest we eat it, so I think it's someone's pet. It hasn't hurt anyone yet." His voice is suspicious though.

"I'm good. I have a car and I'm learning to drive it!"

GLEE.

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Really?" Sokka's voice is bright, a cheerful smile as he looks over. "Oh man, you would have freaked - I got to drive a car.

"A flying car."

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
"........no way." Sokka is hushed and awe-struck. "Really?"

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Seriously. It was awesome. My sister, the babies' mom, it was from her world so she showed me how to drive it, it was so cool!"

In this moment, at least, it's very obvious that they are exactly the same person.

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, maaaaan." Sokka tips his head back to absorb the thought of that for a minute. A flying car!

"...wait, she's your sister? I just assumed ..."

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Sokka stares and blinks.

And laughs. Now would be a fabulous time to inform his younger counterpart who the real father of those babies is but... he doesn't want to break his brain. Not right now, anyway.

"Mel's my adopted sister," Sokka clarifies, grinning. "And Steph, before you ask, is a friend from the last world we were on."

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, adopted. Right."

Sokka thinks about this.

"...what sort of a friend? I mean ... a friend? She's pretty. Not as pretty as Claire, though," he adds loyally.

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Sokka blinks and arches a brow, smirking. "Claire?"

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
The younger Sokka blushes and folds his arms.

"Hey, I asked you first."

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Steph is one-hundred percent friend," Sokka informs him, still grinning brightly. "And I'm guessing Claire's not. What's she like?"

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
"She is two hundred percent just a friend," Sokka says stubbornly, although the edges of his lips quirk upwards a little.

"She has pretty hair like your Steph's. Is that common? Sun-coloured hair? It's really ... it's really interesting."

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Blonde? The yellow?" Sokka has a hard time not grinning - apparently every version of Sokka likes blondes. He's too busy being amused by that to notice the 'his Steph' comment. "It is pretty weird, huh? But pretty."

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
"It's very weird," Sokka agrees, and grins because it is pretty. "Claire doesn't think it's weird, though. She only thinks she's weird because she heals, which is totally cool, not weird at all.

"She came from another world too. I think she thinks I'm the weird one."

[identity profile] notanoptimist.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Sokka blinks, staring a little. "She heals? You mean in a couple of seconds?"

[identity profile] lemur-sitter.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
The younger one nods, waving an arm in a gesture of demonstration that makes perfect sense to himself. "Yeah, she showed me -- just -- whoosh, and it's like she was never hurt at all. Weird, right? But cool!"
